Financial Planning March 2011 - PDF to Magazine Share

"Borrowing money has become a part of life for most people. Unless you're sitting on a tremendous cash reserve, you'll need to borrow money to buy a home. If your car dies and you need a new replacement, you will probably finance some of the purchase. And with out of control college tuition costs a student loan might be the only option for getting an education. Taking on some debt isn't a bad thing as it's just a financial tool that helps you reach your goals. But like any tool, if it is misused you could find yourself doing more harm than good." -- Their words on Financial Planning.

To be fank, I have no idea of the so called debt counselling issue. I was so attracted by the magazine cover. True smiles from a father and his daughter can become such a relieve for me. Maybe I was too busy for my family, maybe I just ignore them...

America's Table- PDF to Magazine share

In a world too often threatened by differences, Thanksgiving is a day to appreciate how our various backgrounds make America vibrant, while our democratic values unite us and keep America strong. America's Table: A Thanksgiving Reader tells this story and helps us express gratitude for being part of it.

Profiles of individuals, whose lives and work exemplify these themes, complement a brief narrative. The narrative is intended to be read aloud prior to the Thanksgiving meal by simply going around the table and taking turns or having a leader designate parts.

Flash Bug Exposes Android to Hackers

Adobe has announced that a flaw in its Flash Player on multiple platforms, including Android, could let hackers take over devices, highlighting ongoing smartphone security concerns.

The vulnerability affects certain versions of Flash Player for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux, as well as Google's mobile OS, Android. "This vulnerability could cause a crash and potentially allow an attacker to take control of the affected system," said Adobe in a security alert.

Adobe said it expects to release a patch for the problem next week. Until then, users are exposed to at least one exploit circulating in the wild, which Adobe describes as a Microsoft Excel document containing Flash code the attacks the vulnerability.

The fact that the same vulnerability has been found on the two most common computing platforms and a leading mobile OS underscores how smartphone users must begin to approach security on their mobile devices in the same way they're used to doing with desktops and laptops: by installing antivirus software and avoiding suspicious attachments and shady web sites.

Apple's iPhone, which famously doesn't support Flash, is immune to the exploit. Mobile malware infections increased 33 percent from 2009 to 2010, according to security firm AdaptiveMobile. As smartphone usage increases and mobile payment technologies roll out, malware authors will see mobile platforms as ever more tempting targets.

Flash Player is widely used on web sites for playing video and displaying advertisements and moving graphics. The software is heavily targeted by hackers because of its widespread use across multiple platforms. Reports of successful exploits are common.

iPad 2 Price, Release Date and Specs Announced By Apple

In today’s press conference – before revealing the iPad 2 – Jobs revealed that the original iPad sold over 15 million units in just 9 months in 2010, making more that every tablet PC ever sold combined. Wow. And the app store already has over 65,000 iPad-specific apps. But enough stats. Let’s get to the juicy bits about the new iPad 2.

As predicted, the new iPad 2 will feature a svelte new body design (which looks a whole lot like the pics I shared last night), with tapered edges that not only make it thinner, but less likely to slip out of your hands. The new case measures 8.8mm thick compared to 13.4mm on the original. To put that in perspective, it’s thinner than an iPhone 4. It also weighs 1.33 pounds, about 15% less than the original. In addition, the iPad 2 will ship in either black or white bezel designs – which is more than we can say for the iPhone 4

The iPad 2 will also feature both front and rear-facing cameras, with the front camera having a VGA resolution, and the rear camera offering 720p video recording. Of course, the front-facing camera will take full advantage of FaceTime, so you can video conference between iPads, iPhones and Macs. Also included is a portable version of Photo Booth, complete with all the silly, unnecessary effects from the desktop version.

Autumn Emerging Talent Issue, Feel the warmth right now in cold winter

"The fourth issue of Cellardoor is devoted to the fresh new talent we've uncovered. Read our interview with Kat Prescott from Skins as well taking a snoop around some more home and even some yummy autumn recipes."

In my point of view, it's a magazine that can warm your heart. You can read it on a lazy sunny afternoon in your sofa. Maybe it's a little hard to picture a warm autumn right now, I mean in the winter. But it's good to feel about the warmth from this magazine.

Thx for the help of aXmag online conversion, for the wonderful pdf to page flip service they provided.

Ozon Magazine October 2010, issuu 81

Ozon Magazine October 2010, issuu 81 (click the picture to see more)

OZON is an urban fashion magazine. An innovative publication with strong editorial content and intriguing imagery, reflecting the mood of the moment...

This issue of ozon is the only magazine I've seen during the travel. Oops, I forgot to mention it. Here it goes, I just got back from a long travel to LA, no Game of Lakers, no swimming pool. I've been there for work, for better or worse, the network of hotel was always broken, left me disconnected for a whole week. I was so desperate for a book when disconnected with internet.

Anyway, hope you will enjoy the magazine.

Freestyle Swim by Kara Joyce, Fantastic Strike!

Kara Lynn Joyce must be the very great swimmer that I loved most. I've been practicing freestyle swim for months, Joyce's video instruction helped me a lot. Her feet kicks and arm stikes are so perfect in pool, you can easily figure out her muscle streak and and basic skill, not to mention the smoothness of swimming.

Anyone want to do the Freestyle Swim, Turn to Joyce!

See the Famous Burning Monk in Shocking Color

In 1963 a Vietnamese Buddhist monk named Lâm Van Tuc burned himself to death on a busy Saigon road in protest of the persecution of Buddhists by South Vietnam's Ngô Ðình Di?m administration. Malcolm Browne's photo and journalist David Halberstam's account of the event circulated the world, winning both of them a Pulitzer Prize.

Halberstam wrote:
"I was to see that sight again, but once was enough. Flames were coming from a human being; his body was slowly withering and shriveling up, his head blackening and charring. In the air was the smell of burning human flesh; human beings burn surprisingly quickly. Behind me I could hear the sobbing of the Vietnamese who were now gathering. I was too shocked to cry, too confused to take notes or ask questions, too bewildered to even think... As he burned he never moved a muscle, never uttered a sound, his outward composure in sharp contrast to the wailing people around him."
If anything could make the image more horrific, it would be color. Redditor mygrapefruit recently posted a shockingly bright colorization of the iconic image.

How'd he do it?
"[I used] Photoshop CS 5, and tablet. Used Brush Tool with mode set to Colour, entered quick mode (Q) sometimes to make finer selections eg. the fire which I then used Gradient Map on. [Took] approx 4 hrs."
